New Site: DJCA Chartered Accountants Project: Website and Brochure for David Jessep & Associates (DJCA). 
David and his team are the new breed of accountants that are embracing new technologies and best practices, underpinned by their strong understanding of the problems and frustrations of small business's in today's climate. With this in mind, GRA designed & produced a new company brochure and a CMS based website, in conjunction with development partners etraction. The DJCA website clearly reflects it's Canterbury pride, and includes a blog that provides a platform for DJCA clients to be informed of industry, accounting and taxation news, as well as other informative tidbits. DJCA's confidence and expertise as a Xero accounting software advisor, is prominent and promoted throughout. The developed collateral also incorporates staff & regional scenic photography taken by GRA. What is Xero? Xero is an online accounting system designed for small businesses and their advisors. Case Study: JSI JSI International Recruitment Specialists JSI are a relatively new company with a long history of experience specializing In offshore engineering recruitment.
Based in Wellington New Zealand and South America, the team are often on the move in far flung reaches. A branding exercise was undertaken by GRA and resulted in the following branded collateral. Simple and strong cyan elements carry throughout, with a no fuss attitude - and by all accounts, making a great first impression.

Is everyone still on holiday? I hope so, because I have to admit...that I am. Even though the body is sitting here in the work chair, the mind is elsewhere where the sun is shining. Already this year has got off to a good start with some interesting projects on the cards. Most of my time recently has been supporting my Asia Pacific clients, including a rather major rebrand project involving many boffins and hod's in London & HK.
It goes without saying that I do enjoy the Rebrand process. For companies undertaking this review, it's a great time to look externally & internally and evaluate what their business is actually about, ensuring they are sending the right message to it's market space. More often than not, this exercise can highlight that a company is not necessarily the company it wants to be or is being seen as. Rebranding can also be the catalyst that instigates a positive change in attitude and internal pride.
off topic but relevant... Here is a sample of a recent office graphical fit-out of fun imagery for a Hong Kong client. It was a simple job, but one that had big benefits to the staff that sat within it's 4 walls 5 days a week. The aim was to simply convey what the company business is and highlight the benefits of it's product line, in a fun and informal way. A result of printing format, allowed the panels to soon become doodle boards using white board markers.
6 Panels were developed and are often the talking point of visitors. A small thing making a big difference.

What message are we trying to convey with our business cards?
First off, it is important that your business card looks professional. Spend time talking with your graphic designer (I'll do), who will ensure your business cards are clearly branded, informative and presented well. A professional looking business card that speaks for itself, will allow you to break down barriers and get into conversations easier.
Now about the message we’re trying to get out with our business card. Simply, your business card is a mini brochure describing yourself and your business on a 90x55mm piece of real estate. Ensure you include as much information as possible and it is short and to the point.
FACTOID...
The forerunner of todays business cards started in France at the time of King Louis XIV. These cards were then the size of playing cards and were called visiting cards. They were used by ladies and gentlemen with specific etiquette standards as to how or when they would be handed out. Later, the size was decreased, but the use remained the same. It was considered rude or impertinent to not follow the etiquette of card use when visiting another person.
In England, the use of Trade Cards became standard and developed from the visiting card idea. The card size decrease and the information on the card became more like what we now see on our business cards. At this time cards were used as a formal way of introducing yourself and there was a certain ritual to the way they were handed out and received. Ladies and gentlemen followed very prescribed rules with regard to the use of these cards.
They were also used to note a deal or a debt. They were used as a reminder of an invitation that had been extended by the card giver. Money pledged via your card was a matter of honor and the card proved your intent at the time. These visiting cards were also used in courtship and for all manner of social occasions. This practice has been lost to history now, but the elegance of a personal card still speaks well of the presenter.
